It has been reported that director Pa. Ranjith would be joining hands with Suriya who would play the lead role in the former’s upcoming directorial venture.
Studio Green, owned by Gnanavel Raja (a close relative of Suriya), released and distributed Pa. Ranjith’s debut directorial venture Attakathi a few years back. It also produced Ranjith’s next venture Madras which starred Suriya’s brother and actor Karthi in the lead, giving the latter a much-needed hit film at a very important juncture in his career.
It now turns out that Ranjith wanted to direct Suriya in a new film soon after the success of Madras but got busy with superstar Rajini with the making of the colossal hit film Kabali. As Rajini signed up Ranjith for his next directorial venture Kaala as well, the film to bring together Ranjith and Suriya for the first time got delayed.
It is now confirmed that Ranjith is determined to make his next film with Suriya in the lead. The upcoming film, which would see Gnanavel Raja-Ranjith-Suriya combination working together, was confirmed during last weekend’s meet-the-press event to introduce the launch of NOTA which is the debut film in Tamil of Tollywood hero Vijay Devarakonda.
