Actresses tend to scorch social networking sites and other film-based internet websites by posting their glam-filled photographs or photos depicting them clad in skimpy outfits. This is done mostly as a tactic to remain in public memory as well as to lure wannabe film-makers and directors to sign them up in their future films. Of late, Bollywood actresses have gone a step further by starring in topless sequences too!
Bikini-clad heroines are not new to Bollywood as actresses across the Vindhays have always never hesitated to appear in glam-filled attires, unlike their South Indian counterparts. Tamil films have been filled to capacity with glam-filled heroines such as Tamannaah, Hansika, Kajal Aggarwal, Nikki Galrani, Rakul Preet Singh, etc. Tamil actresses seldom shed their inhibitions (and clothing) to star in glam-filled sequences!
A couple of young generation heroines, though, are very clear that they won’t use their assets to boost their market or star-status. Sai Pallavi, the stunning-looking Kothagiri-born actress of Tamil origin and Anupama Parameswaran (of Kodi fame) are the two heroines who have made it very clear to their producers and directors (till now) that they won’t appear clad in glam-filled costumes.
Sai Pallavi reportedly turned down Mani Ratnam’s last year’s offer to play the heroine in Kaatru Veliyidai as the film had a few intimate sequences with the hero; her chance later went to Aditi Rao Hydari, who plays a significant role in Mani’s next venture Chekka Civantha Vaanam too. Same is the case with Anupama; she neither has the figure to be clad in a bikini nor has the mind/mentality to be seen in such costumes.
“I only want to be seen in girl-next-door kind of roles and don’t want to be spotted acting glamourously or seen clad-in single piece/two piece bikinis. I have so far managed a career sans glamlour and shall continue to do so in future too,” Anupama concludes with conviction.
