Rakul Preet Singh, who is the latest flavor of Kollywood after starring in two big films last year, has asserted that she had never faced the embarrassing offer of ‘sex-for-films’ in her career so far.
A prominent heroine in Telugu films for the past few years, Rakul is now making a determined bid to make it to the top in Tamil films too. The actress, who has been concentrating mostly in Telugu films of late, starred opposite Karthi in last year’s hit film Theeran Adhikaaram Ondru and in the Tamil-Telugu film Spyder. She also plays the heroine in Suriya’s upcoming film directed by Selvaraghavan.
She has two more film offers as she has been signed up to play the lead role in Karthi and Sivakarthikeyan’s upcoming films. Taking part at a recent event in Bangalore, Rakul said “I have become a complete Telugu girl; though I was born and brought up in Mumbai, I speak more of Telugu of late. It’s indeed surprising as my friends and relatives find it very odd that I have become a ‘complete’ Telugu girl.
“I have come across a few instances of sexual abuse in the media; it is natural as ours is a male-dominated world filled with opportunists of many kinds. I have so far starred in 20 films and thankfully, I have never faced the ‘sex-for-film’ offers. I feel one can come up in his/her field only by possessing talent. I’m thankful that I have plenty of good souls around me,” Rakul concludes.
