Actress Sai Pallavi, the ‘smiling assassin’, is all set to make her debut in Tamil films as a heroine but not as a heroine who runs around the trees singing duets with her hero.
In fact, the stunning-looking Kothagiri-born 25-year old actress’ debut film in Tamil titled as Karu has her as the female protagonist as she plays the mother of a 4-year old girl. Certainly, the ‘smiling princess’ has lots of courage to be taking up such a role for her debut film in Tamil!
The Premam fame actress, who has plenty of fans in all the South Indian States, turned down Mani Ratnam’s offer to star in last year’s Kaatru Veliyidai but agreed to star in director Vijay’s Karu which is produced by Lyka Productions. C.S. Sam, who impressed in last year’s hit film Vikram Vedha, scores the music of Karu whose audio was released in the city yesterday.
“It’s purely accidental that I started acting in films and thanks to the love and affection showered by Tamil audiences that I decided to take up the protagonist’s role in the film. It’s a responsible character and like I visualized, my debut venture in Tamil has come out very well. I and Baby Veronica have become emotionally attached to each other during the making of the film. I’m also thankful to Vijay for teaching me the nuances of acting,” concluded Sai Pallavi.
Vijay said that Sai Pallavi initially refused to star in the film but later agreed when the script was narrated in detail. “She is a huge pillar of the film,” said Vijay.
