Directing superstar Rajinikanth in at least one film is the dream of almost all the film-makers in the country in general and Kollywood in particular. Of late, Rajini has shown a keen intention to work with the younger crop of directors and instead of veterans.
Tamil film industry has been witnessing an influx of talented, young film-makers in huge numbers in the past few years. Pa. Ranjith, one such director along with the likes of Vetrimaaran, Karthik Subbaraj, Arun Prabhu and Gopi Nainar, got to direct Rajini not in one film but in two back-to-back films such as Kabali and Kaala.
In Kabali, Rajini provided enough room and freedom to Ranjith to speak about the politics of the oppressed classes through his dialogues. Rajini’s next film is likely to be a rocking political film.
Rajini, who now awaits the release in theatres of his Shankar-directed 2.0 (sequel to his Enthiran: The Robot) and Pa. Ranjith-directed Kaala, is busy with the preparatory work relating to his political outfit which is to be floated soon. In the meantime, he also wants to keep himself busier by continuing to star in films too.
It is said that Karthik Subbaraj, Arun Prabhu (of Aruvi fame) and Atlee Kumar had met Rajini separately in the past few weeks and narrated a story each. Rajini is said to have told them that he would get back after he finalized the director of his next film from among the three. It remains to be seen who gets lucky this time!
