Success at the box-office had been eluding actor Jiiva for the past few years but he finally found some reason to rejoice as his latest film Kalakalappu 2, directed by Sundar C, has been doing very well in theatres in its third week.
The Siva Manasula Sakthi, Singampuli and Sangili Pungili Kadhavathora actor acknowledged during a recent chat with newspersons that cinema had changed a lot during the past few years. “There is Internet beyond the process of releasing films in theatres after undergoing many difficulties. Audiences’ continued patronage in theatres alone can produce more entertainers.
“I’m sure many multinational corporate firms would be entering the entertainment industry very soon. I feel I’m getting offers as my films have all done reasonably well at the box-office except a few exceptions. I’m happy that Kalakalappu 2 has opened to a very good response and is still going strong. I have Key, Gorilla and Raju Murugan’s Gypsy in my kitty.
“I’m not in the number-race. I feel a film has to have a powerful script to do well in theatres. I continue to be part of many multi-starrers and have no ego hassles. In multi-starrers, it is important for all the stars to cooperate; they should never pray that other hero’s solo-starrer shouldn’t do well in theatres. Film-makers’ roles are very limited in today’s context as ‘U’ certification films are expected of them,” he said.
