Superstar Rajinikanth telephoned his Lingaa heroine and actress Anushka Shetty yesterday and lauded her performance in the actress’ latest Tamil-Telugu bilingual Bhaatamathie which hit the screens on 26th January.
Of late, Anushka has been keen to star only in heroine-oriented scripts. Prior to Bhaagamathie, she had done Baahubali, Baahubali 2, Rudramadevi and Size Zero, all of which had the heroine as the protagonist. She had also starred in Arundhati many years back as the protagonist. Her impressive performance in such roles has never ceased to amaze her growing number of fans.
In her mid-thirties now, Anushka has again delivered a stellar performance in Bhaagamathie which has netted more than Rs.30 crores in 10 days. Trade pundits say that the box-office collections are more than satisfactory for a film which had Anushka alone as its USP. The dubbed Tamil version has also received huge praise and has loved by audiences, which has gladdened Anushka’s heart.
Rajini rang Anushka yesterday and appreciated the film in general and her awesome performance in particular. Revealing details about the superstar’s appreciation, Anushka said that she never thought she would get Rajini’s phone call lauding her performance. “Though I have got congratulations and laurels for my acting in the film, Rajini’s appreciation ranks right on top,” Anushka has said.
