Poorna Exited to Play a Deaf Woman in Mysskin’s Savarakath

Actress Poorna a.k.a. Shamna Kasim would be seen in a different avatar in her upcoming film titled as Savarakathi which also has the burly Mysskin and Ram essaying powerful lead roles.

Poorna was sobbing uncontrollably during the recently-held audio-launch of the film while referring to her character of a deaf woman. “Not for nothing that I shed tears; it was spontaneous,” she justifies her breaking down and adds that it was indeed a huge learning curve for her as an actress as she was in constant company of Mysskin and Ram during the making of the film who provided her now and then with useful tips.

“The name of my character in the film is Subathra, which is the actual name of Mysskin’s mother. I play a pregnant deaf woman who is already a mother of two,” Poorna reveals. The character was so impactful that it also spurred her on to dub for her character in the film in her own voice, something which she has never done in Tamil films so far.

“I’m thankful to Mysskin Sir for accepting my version that my own voice would add more credibility to the powerful on-screen character that I have essayed in Savarakathi. He also helped me for a week or so in getting my diction right and in pronouncing the words correctly with the right accent,” says the actress who sports a nice, tomboyish look with cropped hair after she tonsured her head for her role in last year’s Kodi Veeran.
