Thalapathy Vijay won the Ananda Vikatan Best Actor Award for his riveting performance in the film. The actor said he expected that sharp dialogues in Mersal would get harsh criticism. Vijay also thanked his well-wishers who helped during the tough phase of the film.
Vijay also said that he feels happy to won the award ahead of Thai Pongal day for a film that he did as a Tamizhan to promote Tamizh culture.
Kamal Haasan who always shared a great bond with Vijay presented him the award and said “This is not the first and last award, you will get more laurels in the future my brother”, said Kamal Haasan.
Vijay’s next film will be directed by AR Murugadoss.
