Actor Madhavan, who has shed the ‘chocolage boy’ image consciously by taking on a variety of roles, is to play the lead role in a fantasy ‘super-hero’ kind of a film!
The 40-plus actor had a solitary release in Tamil last year in the form Vikram Vedha which was directed by the husband-wife duo of Pushkar and Gayathrie. The film not only earned critical acclaim but also grossed huge box-office collections, revealing the ‘antagonist’ side of actor Vijay Sethupathi who matched Madhavan step to step.
Maddy had thus delivered his second successive super-hit film in Tamil after Irudhi Suttru. He is under pressure now to sustain the new-found success in the ‘second innings’ of his career which took off in the initial phase of last decade with Mani Ratnam’s super-hit film Alai Payuthay. His next film, untitled as yet, is to be directed by A. Sarkunam, who made the national award-winning film Vaagai Sooda Vaa.
The entire film, to be made with a huge budget by Ganesh (producer of Rekka), is to be shot abroad in countries such as Thailand, Mongolia, Tajikistan and a few other countries. Sarkunam, who pens the story, screenplay and dialogues besides directing the film, would also be the associate producer of the film.
“Ghibran scores the music which has Hollywood’s famed stunt choreographer working with us. We are in the process of choosing heroine, other artistes and technicians. We want to make it as an action-packed adventure which would also be loved by children and family audiences besides Maddy’s fans. We plan to commence the film’s shoot in June after wrapping up the pre-production work,” Sarkunam concludes.
