Ravi Appulu Resurfaces After 16 Years to Make Seyal

Ravi Appulu, director of actor Vijay’s forgettable 2001 venture Shahjahan, has resurfaced in Kollywood after 16 long years with his second directorial venture titled as Seyal.

Rajan Tejeshwar, Tarushi and Renuka play the lead roles in the film which has music by Idharkuththane Aasaipattai Balakumara fame Siddharth Vipin (who also starred in M. Rajesh’s Vasuvum Saravananum Onna Padichavanga). The audio-launch of Seyal was held in teh city on the other day in which directors Vasanthabalan and Perarasu took part and released the audio-cassettes and CDs.

Speaking at the event, Appulu said that he was literally ‘shunned’ by Kollywood afte his debut venture Shahjahan failed miserably at the box-office. I met several heroes in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada film industries during the past many years but none of them said ‘yes’ to my script. I have been lucky that I got an opportunity to make Seyal 16 years after I directed by maiden venture.

“The script of Seyal would be as per today’s trend and features prominently the clash between the antagonist and the protagonist in a very different manner. Though the nature of the script is ‘serious’, it has been narrated in a lively, enjoyable manner,” Appulu concluded and sought people’s support for his new film.
