National award-winning actress Vidya Balan, who is Palakkad’s pride and one of Bollywood’s jewels, has asserted that she didn’t believe in thinning down or putting on extra weight for her on-screen characters. “Whatever I do, I’d like to retain my original beauty,” adds Vidya.
Vidya, who turned 39 on New Year on Monday, is quite happy with the way her latest Hindi film Tumhari Sulu has been lapped up by her fans. Always keen to star in heroine-oriented films, Vidya got talking in a free-wheeling interview about how things were proceeding on the personal and professional fronts.
“I just don’t have any time to get pregnant and bear a child; in fact, each of my film is akin to a child. In this manner, I already have more than 20 children,” says Vidya who celebrated the New Year and her birthday in the company of her producer-husband Siddharth Roy Kapoor.
“Success of Tumhari Sulu proves that script alone matters at the box-office,” she opined. On another note, she said she would never thin down or put on extra weight to take on any character in any film. “Let me be what I am: I would only star in those directors’ films who shoe me as I’m on-screen,” Vidya adds.
