Actor-producer Vishal has said that P.S. Mithran, debutant director of his upcoming film Irumbu Thirai which is to hit the screens on Republic Day next month, didn’t want him to contest the R.K. Nagar by-polls which concluded last week so that the film’s work continued unabated.
Vishal has produced the film under his banner ‘Vishal Film Factory’ and is romancing the newly-wed Samantha in the film as his heroine. The duo has never starred together and there is certainly a tinge of excitement among fans of both the artistes to watch them as pair on screen. The fact that ‘action king’ Arjun plays Vishal’s antagonist in the film has added to the film’s market value.
Yuvan Shankar Raja also returns after some years to score the music of a Vishal-starrer. Speaking at the audio-launch of the film, attended by Samantha, Kaali Venkat, Robot Shankar, R.V. Udhayakumar and S.R. Prabhu, Vishal said “I’m responsible for the delay in releasing Irumbu Thirai in theates. When we launched the film, I was busy with the elections at the Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC).
“I still persisted with the polls knowing very well that I’d have to bear the extra expenditure in making this film. Later, I decided to contest the R.K. Nagar by-polls; more than anybody else, Mithran would have felt shocked at my decision which meant I would have become unavailable for many days. I think it’s his prayer which resulted in rejection of my candidature in R.K. Nagar,” Vishal said smilingly in a lighter vein.
“On a serious note, Mithran has worked as hard as an established film-maker and the result would be there for all to see as and when the film releases in theatres,” he said.
