Sivakarthikeyan in Big League as Velaikkaran Collects Rs.35 Crores in 6 Days

Television anchor-turned-actor Sivakarthikeyan has entered the big league with his latest film Velaikkaran collecting Rs.35 crores in its first six days in theatres.

Starring Sivakarthikeyan and Nayantara play the lead with Prakash Raj, Fahadh Faasil, Robot Shankar and Sneha essaying prominent roles in Velaikkaran which is directed by ‘Jayam’ Raja. Released last Friday, the film is said to have collected a colossal Rs.35 crores in its first six days in theatres. The film was released in many theatres in Kerala too as Nayantara and Fahadh are quite popular in Kerala.

Despite the mixed reviews the film has been getting from the print and television media and the audiences, the film has collected Rs.35 crores, which is very good and it puts Sivakarthikeyan on part with frontline heroes. Trade pundits say that the film has been running to packed houses even on week days and if the trend continued for the next one week or so, it might end up as a super-hit venture.

It is said that Sivakarthiyean has entered the ‘big league’ with this film which make him next only to Rajini, Vijay and Ajith in box-office collections of first week. It is also said that the film might have collected Rs.43 crores taking into account the collections recorded in Kerala and elsewhere.
