Actor Vijay Sethpathi is debuting in Tollywood by playing megastar Chiranjeevi’s close aide in the latter’s upcoming Telugu film titled as Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, the filming of which started three weeks back.
Jagapathi Babu, Kichha Sudeep, Nayantara and Brahmaji play prominent roles in the film which reportedly features Bollywood’s ‘superstar of the millennium’ Amitabh Bachchan in an extended cameo. Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan Teja is the producer of the film based on the life of Rayalaseema freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy. S. Thaman scores the music of the film cinematographed by R. Rathnavelu.
To be made trilingual in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, the first-look motion posters of the film were released some time back. The crew has just wrapped up the first schedule of the film’s shoot which commenced on 06th December. To be produced at a huge budget of Rs.150 crores, the film has already been mired in some controversies: A.R. Rahman and Ravivarman had earlier opted out of the film from the assignments of scoring music and cinematographing.
It is now said that the duo opted out of the film mainly because of their dissatisfaction over the manner in which the film’s pre-production work went. More than 400 British junior artistes are to feature in the film which would be the 151st film in Chiranjeevi’s four-decade long career. The first schedule comprised the shoot of action sequences featuring Chiranjeevi and British artistes.
It now turns out that Vijay Sethupathi, who always seeks variety in the roles he plays in films, is essaying the role of a close aide of Chiranjeevi’s character in the film. Whether or not Sethupathi manages to impress Tollywood audiences in his first-ever Telugu film is something only Time can predict!
