Cinematographer Ramji, who doesn’t talk much about the films he works in, has said that television anchor-turned-actor Sivakarthikeyan has dazzled in various dimensions in his upcoming film Velaikkaran which is to release as a year-end bonanza on 22nd December (next Friday).
Starring Sivakarthikeyan and Nayantara as on-screen pair for the first time, Velaikkaran (borrows the title of a superstar Rajini super-hit film of the late eighties) is helmed by ‘Jayam’ Raja, who is gearing up only for his second release in three years after the colossal hit film Thani Oruvan (2015) which starred his younger brother and actor ‘Jayam’ Ravi and Nayanara in the lead.
“Raja narrated me a one-line script of Velaikkaran during the 2015 Chennak floods and I was mightily impressed by what I heard. I assured him that the film would create a huge impact on the audiences. Velaikkaran is very different from films witnessed in contemporary cinema as it exhorts the future generation about how to live. I was amazed at Raja and his crew’s hard-work and dedication.
“Sivakarathikeyan hasn’t starred in such a film thus far in his career and we were very careful in planning his look(s) should be; he appears in three different dimensions for which we sweated a lot,” Ramji spills the beans.
