Sun Pictures, who hasn’t been producing films for the past few years but has only been distributing them, is re-entering the arena of film production by agreeing to produce actor Vijay’s upcoming untitled film to be helmed by A.R. Murugadoss.
After his hit film Mersal, Vijay has joined hands with diminutive film-maker A.R. Murugadoss for the third time for the 62nd film in his career. The duo’s earlier films such as Thuppakki and Kaththi were huge box-office successes ad Vijay’s fans are only hoping for a hat-trick of successes from Vijay and Murugadoss.
Sun Pictures had earlier produced superstar Rajinikanth’s Shankar-directed magnum opus Enthiran: The Robot which turned out to be a colossal hit. It later distributed and released Vijay-starrers Vettaikkaran and Suraa but both the films nose-dived at the box-office. Sun Pictures got into some legal tangle afterward and had put on hold film production.
In its tweet yesterday, Sun Pictures announced at 04:52 p.m. that it would be producing Vijay’s next film to be helmed by A.R. Murugadoss. A.R. Rahman, Srikar Prasad and Girish Gangadharan (of Angamaly Diaries fame) would be the film’s music director, editor and cinematographer respectively while D. Santhanam would work as the film’s art director.
