Thiruvananthapuram Sub-Collector Divya Iyer makes Mollywood debut as actress

Soon after actress Nayantara was spotted essaying the District Collector’s role with aplomb in her latest super-hit film Aramm, an IAS officer holding the Sub-Collector’s rank in Kerala is debuting as an actress in Mollywood!

Divya Iyer, the serving Sub-Collector of Trivandrum District in Kerala, is the official in question who has turned actress with the Malayalam film Eli Ammachide Adyadhe Christmas which releases in theatres across Kerala today (01st December). The Sub-Collector was in the news recently when she said she would be tying the nuptial knot with Kerala MLA Sabarinathan.

Directed by Benny, the film has Divya, who is a qualified doctor who studied at CMC, Vellore, essaying a nurse in the film. Speaking in fluent Tamil, Divya said that she was offered the role in the film by director Benny while she was serving at Kottayam. “The script is about a old-age home and its in-mates and how they are left uncared by their sons and daughters who make up the society in which we live.

“It is not a commercial venture and I agreed to star in the film as it has a strong message to the society. I got formal approval from the Govt. to star in the film but didn’t take any money to be part of the film. I watch many Tamil and Malayalam films and would continue to star in films provided the films are relevant to the society and speak about the existing issues,” smiles the bespectacled Divya Iyer.
