Parvathy wins ‘best acress’ at Goa International Film Festival

29-year old actress Parvathy of Poo, Maryan and Bangalore Naatkal fame has won the coveted ‘best actress’ award at the Goa Intenatioal Film Festival which concluded yesterday.

The 48th International Film Festival in India (IFFI) was being held in Goa for 9 days from 20-28 November. Leading celebrities from various language film industries in the country including twin-Oscar award winner A.R. Rahman and Bollywood’s mightily talented Nana Patekar have been taking part in the IFFI hosted by the Central Govt.

On the final day of IFFI yesterday, the concluding ceremony was compered by the duo of Bollywood film-maker Karan Johar and actress Zaira Wasim (of Dangal fame). French Film ‘120 bpm’ won the Golden Peacock for the ‘best film’ while Nahuel Perez Biscayart, who played the lead role in the film, got the ‘best actor’ award.

Chinese film-maker Vivian Qu won the ‘best director’ award for her Angels Wear White while Mahesh Narayan of India got the ‘special jury’ award for his Malyalam film Take Off which had Fahath Faasil and Parvathy in the lead. About the lives of Indian nurses who underwent hell in Irequ, Take Off also fetched its heroine Parvathy the coveted ‘best actress’ award.

Bollywood’s Amitabh Bachchan, voted a few year back as the ‘superstar of last century’, was conferred the ‘Most Respected Film Personality of the Year’ award jointly by Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani and Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar.
