Filmmaker Vasanthabalan, known for his thought-provoking films such the national award-winning ‘best Tamil film’ Veyil, Anaadi Theru, Aravaan and Kaaviya Thalaivan, has opined that he would whole-heartedly inaugurate the statue if anybody planned to erect a statue for actress Nayantara to honour her for her superlative performance in her latest film Aramm.
“You sure deserve to be listed among some of the best actresses Tamil films have seen over the past many years,” the bespectacled Vasanthabalan said on social networking site while appreciating debutant director Gopi Nayanar’s script and dialogues as well as protagonist Nayantara’s stellar performance as ‘District Collector Madhivadhani’ in Aramm which released a fortnight back.
Superstar Rajini and many other Kollywood celebrities have been lavish in their praise of the film. “After a long time, a Tamil film has rattled me. Gopi’s courage in taking up a tough, socially relevant theme in his debut directorial venture is laudable. The child which essayed Dhansika in the film is an excellent choice. The film has exposed many things such as the ever-casual attitude of Govt. staff in discharging their duties.
“Om Prakash’s cinematography and Ghibran’s background score have added value to the film. Nayan’s transformation from a bikini-clad glamour girl in Billa as the saree-clad District Collector in Aramm is amazing indeed. I never thought Nayantara would be so good in emoting. This is easily her best performance in her career. If anybody erects a statue for Nayantara, I’m ready to inaugurate it,” Vasanthabalan said.
