It is reported that music director-playback singer Anirudh Ravichander has replaced twin Oscar award-winning music director A.R. Rahman as the music director of producer-director Shankar’s upcoming film Indian 2.
Kamal Haasan, who played the lead role (triple roles, to be precise) in Shankar’s super-duper 1996 hit film Indian, announced some time back on the concluding day of his popular reality television show Bigg Boss that he would be starring in the sequel to be directed by Shankar and produced by Tollywood producer Dil Raju. Both Raju and Shankar appeared on stage on that day to confirm the making of the sequel.
It is now said that Dil Raju has backed out for some ‘unknown’ reasons and that Lyca Productions, which is producing superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film 2.0, has stepped in as the producer. Rahman had scored the music of the prequel 21 years back and just when it was thought that he would be repeated in the prequel, here comes a news report which says that he has been replaced by Anirudh Ravichander.
Rahman has been a permanent music director for Shankar who has occasionally worked with Harris Jayaraj (Anniyan & Nanban). Anirudh gets his first film with Shankar and Kamal Haasan.
