Shalini assures she won’t copy Tamannaah in Tamil remake of 100% Love

24-year old Shalini Pandey, who has taken Tollywood by storm with the super-success of her debut Telugu film Arjun Reddy which released in theatres in August, is all set to make her debut in Tamil films by pairing up opposite music director-turned-hero G.V. Prakash Kumar.

Jabalpur-born actress, who is an engineer by profession, is the latest toast of Tollywood as she and her debuting hero Vijay Deverakonda hit jackpot on their very first outing in Telugu films. Arjun Reddy is still going strong in many centres in Andhra Pradesh, Telengana and elsewhere and completed its 50-day run last Friday.

Shalini has been signed up, along with Vijay Deverakonda, to star in the Tamil-Telugu-Malayalam trilingual Mahanati (Nadigaiyar Thilagam in Tamil) which has Dulquer Salmaan, Samantha and Keerthy Suresh in lead roles. As already reported, the film is a biopic on legendary atress Savitri.

Her debut Tamil film, titled as 100% Kadhal, would be the Tamil remake of the super-hit Telugu film 100% Love which released in 2011 and starred Naga Chaitanya and Tamannaah in lead roles. G.V. Prakash Kumar, the ‘small-budget’ hero of Tamil films, has stepped into the shoes of Naga Chaitanya while Shalini would essay Tamannaah’s role in the film’s Tamil version.

“Tamannaah is one of my most favourite actresses; I’m stepping into her role in 100% Kadhal but would avoid being her shade. I shall adopt my own style in winning the hearts of Tamil fans,” says a confident-looking Shalini Pandey.
