Radhika Apte, who impressed superstar Rajinikanth’s fans in particular and movie-goers and critics in general by pairing up opposite Rajini in last year’s colossal hit film Kabali, has accused a film producer from South of inviting her to share his bed in return for starring in his film.
Of late, actresses have been going public about sexual overtures/advances made towards them by heroes/producers on the pretext of giving them opportunities to star in their films. It is said that only newcomers face this problem; however, actresses like Padmapriya made bold statements in the recent past stating that even established actresses are getting the ‘sex-for-film’ offers from time to time.
Radhika, known for her controversial and steamy sequences in Hindi films in the past involving her in half-naked postures, has joined the issue as the latest actress by stating that the practice of ‘sex-for-films’ was very much in existence in the film industries in South as well.
“The practice (of sex-for-films) is very much in vogue in the Southern film industry as well; I was recently speaking to a film producer from South about a project which hadn’t got underway and was shocked when the producer casually invited me to bed if I wanted the offer. I, however, neglected him and his offer. My ‘non-cooperative’ attitude might be the reason for me starring in less South Indian films,” she says.
