Mollywood’s megastar Mohanlal is all set to rock as a ‘half-man, half-beast’ in his upcoming film Odiyan, which is slated to release in theatres across South India in a grand manner on 30th March next year.
Produced by Mohanlal’s ‘Ashirwad Cinemas’ and directed by debutant director Shrikumar Menon (who has made plenty of commercials in the past), Odiyan has Mohanlal essaying the role of a tribal man. Mollywood’s ‘comeback queen’ Manju Warrier plays the heroine in the film which has the versatile Prakash Raj in a pivotal character.
The role is something which has never been portrayed by the award-winning actor during his illustrious 38-year long career. Odiyan in Malayalm means a person who is well-versed in magic; the director says that the film would reveal a hitherto unknown ‘facet’ of Mohanlal’s on-screen personality and would be more impactful than Pulimurugan, last year’s super-duper Malayalam hit film which became the first-ever Malayalam film to breach the Rs.100-crore mark at the box-office.
National award-winning stunt choreographer Peter Hayne, who worked with Mohanlal earlier in Pulimurugan, is said to have spurned the offer to choreograph stunts in two frontline heroes to concentrate more in Odiyan for which his is said to have been promised a pay-packed of Rs.3 lakhs for a non-stop schedule of 50 days!
