FEFSI strike hurts shoot of films including Rajini’s Kaala

Strike by employees and workers affiliated to various associations of Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) has brought to a grinding halt the shoot of various Tamil films including superstar Rajinikanth’s Kaala Karikaalan.

The strike, which commenced on Thursday, enters its third day today, upsetting the shooting schedules of more than 40 films which are in various stages of production. The halt in shoot has caused crores of losses to small and medium film producers. It may be recalled that FEFSI workers/employees indulged in ‘flash strike’ for four days from 01st August too.

After tripartite talks involving FEFSI, Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC) and the Govt. officials, the strike was called off after which the shoot recommenced only four weeks back. Talks continued between the parties involved but they didn’t arrive at an amicable solution after which the TFPC announced that those possessing Viscom Degree can approach it for jobs in the industry.

Taking the Council on, FEFSI indulged in strike from Thursday affecting the shooting schedule of Rajini’s Kaala and films of other frontline heroes as well. Crores of rupees have been lost by way of rent and the strike has also delayed the release of upcoming films. FEFSI has, in the meantime, said that it was ready to talk to the Producers’ Council to bring an end to the strike.
