Actress Kajal Aggarwal has been finalized to play the lead role in the Tamil remake of the super-hit 2014 Bollywood film Queen which fetched its heroine Kangna Ranaut the national award for ‘best actress’ besides the Filmfare award for the same category.
Directed by Vikas Bahl, Queen was a runaway hit as it traced a small-town girl’s story in practical terms. The film, which was a huge box-office success and received critical acclaim, was to be made in Tamil under Revathi’s direction and with dialogues by Suhasini Mani Ratnam.
However, it now turns out that Ramesh Aravind, who made the Kamal Haasan-Pooja Kumar starrer Uttama Villain a few years back, would be directing the Tamil remake. ‘Milky beauty’ Tamannaah, who was initially signed up to star in the film, reportedly opted out of the film as the film’s launch in Tamil got inordinately delayed.
Kajal Aggarwal has now stepped into Tamannaah’s shoes as the script-writers are working overtime to make deft changes in the film’s screenplay as per Tamil culture. The film is likely to go to the floors from October onwards. The first schedule would be shot in Madurai after which the crew would move to London and Paris to shoot the remainder of the film.
