Vijay has purposely insulted Hindus’ sentiments, HMM complains to police

Hindu Makkal Munnani (HMM), a self-styled organization for preserving ‘Tamil culture’ in films, has lodged a complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner against actor Vijay for hurting the sentiments of millions of Hindus purposely by posing in an awkward manner in front of the famed trident (Trishul) for a painting.

The complaint follows the recent release of a painting of the actor by an ardent fan showing Vijay posing cross-legged and attempting a ‘Nataraj’ (‘Dancing Shiva’) kind of posture in front of a trident (Trishul), which is used as a weapon by most Hindu Gods and Goddesses. That Vijay is shown with his shoes has hurt Hindus, HMM says.

HMM says that though Vijay is a Christian by birth, he knows for sure that shoes and chappals are not permitted during Anandathandavam (ecstatic dancing, a pose in which Vijay is shown in the painting) by devotees of Lord Shiva.

Complaint has been sought on Vijay for having ‘allowed’ his fan to make the painting.
