Distributor-turned-producer-turned-hero Udhayanidhi has appealed to the print and television media to delay their film reviews by 3 days (after the release of the film in theatres) in case of ‘negative reviews’ as it might affect box-office collection in theatres.
Udhayanidhi is gearing up for the release in theatres of his upcoming film Saravanan Irukka Bayamaen directed by Ezhil, who had directed Ajith and Vijay in the past and whose latest film Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikkaran was one of last year’s most successful films. D. Imman has scored the music of the film produced by Udhayanidhi and which has him romancing hotties Regina Cassandra and Srushti Dange.
Speaking at the recent meet-the-press event held in connection with the film’s release (next Friday), Udhayanidhi hoped Saravanan Irukka Bayamaen would be loved by all sections of the audiences.
“I appeal to the press to write (positive) reviews of films immediately and delay them by 3 days if the reviews are to be negative so as to help films make profits in theatres,” he said. By doing so, Udhayanidhi was only echoing the views of Visha, Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC) president and Nadigar Sangam general secretary.
One can’t stop wondering what right the film industry-wallaahs have in fixing a ‘timeline’ to the so-called free-press to write the films’ reviews within a specified time-frame?
