Tollywood film-maker S.S. Rajamouli has tendered his apology to veteran actress Ramya Krishnan for not preferring initially as the ‘first choice’ to play the now-famous character of ‘Sivakami’ in the 2015 colossal hit film Baahubali and its upcoming sequel Baahubali 2 as well.
Rajamouli, who has become the ‘showman’ of Tollywood and who is now viewed on par with Bollywood’s Subhash Ghai and Kollywood’s Shankar in making films of grandeur, apologized to Ramya openly during his speech at the recently-held audio-launch of the Tamil version of Baahubali 2.
The sequel is releasing in a grand manner in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu versions across the globe on 28th April.
Ramya plays the mother of Baahubali, Prabhas’ character in the film. It turns out that Rajamouli first approached Lakshmi Manchu, daughter of Tollywood superstar Mohan Babu, to play the role of ‘Sivakami’ but Lakshmi spurned the offer stating that she was not ‘aged enough’ to play on-screen mother of Prabhas. It was only later that Rajamouli approached Ramya and as they say, the ‘rest was history’!
Revealing this to the media and to fans of Baahubali, Rajamouli tendered his apologies to Ramya Krishnan. It may be recalled that he did so during the audio launch of the Telugu version of Baahubali held in Hyderabad a few days back. He has, thus, said ‘sorry’ twice to Ramya Krishnan!
