Audio of actor-director-producer Samuthirakani’s upcoming directorial venture Thondan was released in the city yesterday at a simple ceremony.
Vetrimaaran, who released the audio cassettes/CDs along with Bala, lauded Samuthirakani for making many films at a terrific speed and not compromising at the same time with their quality. Bala, Vetrimaaran, ‘Ganja’ Karuppu, Vijay Milton, Thambi Ramaiah and the film’s heroines Sunaina and Arthana attended the event.
When her turn to speak came, debutant Arthana spilled the beans by stating that Samuthirakani offered her a role in the film without even meeting her once. “What made you decide in my favour?” she asked Samuthirakani who was seated on the dais, sending the audiences in splits of laughter.
Vetrimaaran lauded Samuthirakani’s well-planned style of film-making and said that Samuthirakani completes two films by the time he manages to complete one film. “The most important factor is that these films are not short of quality and substance,” he said. Actor Vela Ramamurthy lauded Samuthirakani as a film-maker those films revealed his concern for the occurrences in the society.
