Actress Dhansika is playing the character of a sex-worker in an upcoming short-film titled as Sinam; she has even smoked to make her character look so realistic!
Dhansika received accolades for her tom-boyish kind of character of superstar Rajini’s daughter in last year’s colossal hit film Kabali which was directed by Pa. Ranjith. She didn’t get many offers despite the film’s mammoth success. She now plays a sex-worker in an upcoming short film titled as Sinam directed by Anand Murthy.
Not many frontline heroines take up the offer to play sex-worker on screen (Anushka did boldly in Vaanam, though). When Murthy told Dhansika that she would also have to ‘smoke’ on-screen to make her character look realistic, she took up the challenge and did something (smoking) which she had never done in her life in the past.
Murthy is all praise for Dhansika and says that at a time when even heroes are avoiding smoking on screen, it is appreciable that Dhansika did as she was told in smoking sequences. “The backdrop of the film is set in Kolkata which also has a popular model essaying a prominent role of a documentary film-maker. G.V. Prakash Kumar is scoring the film’s music,” says Murthy.
