Vetrimaaran takes up theatrical release of debutant director’s Lens

Talented as he is, critics feel that film-maker Vetrimaaran hasn’t done full justice to his repertoire of capacities. The bearded film-maker has directed just three films in Polladhavan (2007, Aadukalam (2011) and Visaranai (2016) in a career spanning more than a decade.

Vetrimaaran, however, has been doing well in leading a life of luxury as he has also been involved in producing films either on his own or in association with friend and national award-winning actor Dhanush. Vetrimaaran, whose scripts are his forte, has the knack of indulging in producing films involving minimum budget such as Udhayam NH4, Kakka Muttai, Naan Rajavaga Pogiren, Visaranai and Poriyaalan.

A decade-long stint in films has taught Vetrimaaran the nuances of film-making and find out which films under production would do well and which won’t. The director, who is now busy directing Dhanush in his upcoming Vada Chennai triology, has now taken up the release and distribution of an upcoming film titled as Lens, produced and directed by debutant film-maker Jayaprakash Radhakrishnan.

Made trilingual in Tamil, Malayalam and English, the film has already won quite a few awards at many film festivals across the globe. It has a very relevant theme of sexual harassment of women. Radhakrishnan himself has essayed a prominent role in the film which has Anand Sami, Ashwathy Lal, Misha Goshal and K. Udhayakumar essaying lead roles. G.V. Prakash Kumar has scored the film’s music.
