Suriya serves notice on PeTA India seeking its apology

Actor Suriya has served a notice on PeTA’s (People for Ethnic Treatment of Animals) India chapter asking it to tender apology for remarks made against him.

Suriya, like many celebrities in Kollywood, issued a statement a few days back supporting Jallikkattu and wishing the Jallikkattu activists and supporters success in their protest to get the ban on the sporting activity revoked.

Responding to Tamils’ strong sentiment, Suriya even went to the extent of cancelling the promotional events in connection with the release in theatres of his upcoming film S3 scheduled at Madurai and Tirunelveli. In the meantime, PeTA issued a statement deriding Suriya by saying that the actor was supporting Jallikkattu to attract publicity on the eve of the release of his new film.

Suriya’s fans took PeTA to task on social networking sites even as the star himself has served a notice on the animal rights organization. Suriya’s advocate Vijay Anand has issued the notice asking PeTA to tender unconditional, open apology for its remarks within the next seven days or face legal action.
