It is said that superstar Rajinikanth might be essaying a role in a script set in the backdrop of Mumbai, the commercial capital of the country, in his upcoming film to be directed by Pa. Ranjith.
It was reported in these columns that Rajini would be working again with Pa. Ranjith, who made his super-duper hit film Kabali in 2016, in a new untitled film which would be produced by Rajini’s son-in-law and the national award-winning actor Dhanush.
Ranjith is now said to be finalizing the film’s script. After Kabali, which had Rajini taking up the cause of Malaysia-based Tamils, it now turns out that Rajini would now take up the cause of the slum-dwellers in Mumbai. As such, the script is set in the backdrop of Mumbai. It may be recalled that Rajini’s super-duper hit film Baashha, which released more than 21 years back, was set in the backdrop of Mumbai.
Ranjith visited Mumbai recently with some of the crew members and finalized locations to shoot the film. Returning to Chennai, Ranjith met Rajini and apprised him of the locations he had chosen to shoot the film and as well as about the depth of Rajini’s character in the film.
