Rahman pleased with lead role in Dhuruvangal Padhinaaru

Actor Rahman, who has completed more than 3 deacades as an actor in film industry, is mighty pleased with his latest effort at playing the lead role in the recent hit film Dhuruvangal Padhinaaru, the last film to be releasing in 2016.

Much to the surprise of many, debutant director Karthick Naren cast an ageing Rahman in the lead in his debut directorial venture Dhuruvangal Padhinaaru which has not only earned appreciation from celebrated film-makers such as Shankar, A.R. Murugadoss and Sundar C but has also collected Rs.3 weeks in less than two weeks, considered as a ‘huge feat’ for a small-budget film!

Rahman happily informs that the film has been allocated more screens in the second week than in the first week. “Karthick deserves all the credit for the film’s success. He is just 22 but his passion for film-making impressed me. Initially, I took some time in deciding to be part of this project but I’m now happy that I starred in it. In fact, I agreed to star in the film only after hearing out the script for the fifth time.

“When I watched the film’s preview, I realized that Dhuruvangal Padhinaaru ought to be the best film in my career,” concedes Rahman. “Naren planned things very well and completed the film’s shoot in just 28 days of shooting. My brother-in-law A.R. Rahman and Vijay’s mother Shobha called me up and appreciated my performance in the film,” says Rahman.

“I now want to play hero in films purely for the sake of my younger daughter who hasn’t seen me as hero on-screen,” says Rahman.
