Challenging to play character with grey shades: Saranya

Mostly known for essaying an adorable on-screen mother to popular Tamil leading heroes, actress Saranya Ponvannan says playing a character with grey shades for the first time in her career in forthcoming Tamil thriller “Achamindri”, was not a cakewalk.

“I’m used to playing roles that have been mostly fun and are instantly likable. However, playing a character with grey shades is something I haven’t attempted before. It’s a big transformation for me in my career and I found it very challenging,” Saranya said.

Directed by Rajapandi, the film stars Vijay Vasanth, Srushti Dange and Samuthirakani.

Talking more about the role, she said: “I had to work very hard for this role. Unlike mother’s roles, which are a cakewalk, this character required me to totally rely on my director. I’m glad it has come out well. I’m anxious to see the audiences’ reaction.”

Will she continue taking up roles with grey shades?

“It depends on the project. If there’s scope for me to play such a character in any script, then why not,” she said.

The film, which deals about the inequality in our education system, is inspired by reports from several newspapers.

Produced by Vinoth Kumar under Triple V Records, the film will hit screens on Friday.
