400 Tamil films await their release dates in theatres, Nassar laments

400-tamil-films-await-their-release-dates-in-theatres-nassar-lamentsNadigar Sangam president Nassar has lamented that these are tough times for industry folks and has revealed a disturbing piece of statistics by saying that more than 400 Tamil films, whose shoot had been wrapped up long back, are lying in cold storage for want of theatres to release them.

Nassar was speaking at the trailer-launch of an upcoming film titled as Parandhu Sella Vaa which stars his son Luthbudeen (remember him in Vijay’s Saivam?) as the debutant hero. Aishwarya Rajesh, who has been growing in stature as an actress with each film of hers, plays his heroine in the film which is directed by Dhanapal Padmanabhan and produced by Arumai Chandra.

‘Kalaipuli’ S. Thanu has taken up the film’s distribution and release. Taking part in the trailer-launch at Prasad Lab’s preview theatre, Nassar said “I haven’t come here as a father or as a president of Nadigar Sangam but come only as a film-lover. I have produced and directed four films and in my experience, film-making is not so difficult when compared to the efforts made to release a film in theatres.

“Irrespective of the film’s budget, producers find it very tough to get them released in theatres. More than 400 films, which have been censored, are waiting for their D-Day (date of release) in theatres.

In such a bleak scenario, it is highly appreciable that big produces such as Thanu are willingly taking up release of small films. Film industry needs more Thanus at this present juncture,” Nassar concluded.
