Simbu Achcham Yenbathu Madamaiyada is raking in the moolah at the US box office. The long-gestating film, which finally hit screens yesterday received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics and cinephiles alike.
The film, including both Tamil and Telugu versions, has minted $70K from premiere shows and the figures have doubled on Friday. Both Tamil and Telugu versions have grossed $120K+ on Friday with positive mouth Talk. The movie released in 90+ screens and has emerged as Simbu’s career-best opening in the US.
Praneeth Media and Tentkotta are elated with the overall response of the film at the box office and we strongly believe that the weekend figures will up the ante commercially. We expect the Saturday figures to double the Friday numbers.
Gautham Menon’s trademark romance portions featuring Simbu and Manjima Mohan were lauded as delightfully refreshing. The film, which shifts genres half way through the story, is replete with aesthetically beautiful visuals of cinematographer Dan Macarthur.
Simbu shines in his role as a love-struck youngster and some have called it the best performance of STR in recent years. Manjima Mohan has made an assured debut as Leela, who is cute, heartwarming and independent. AR Rahman’s songs have been picturized and choreographed tastefully, making it one of the best-shot albums of the Oscar award-winning musician.
The fans are on cloud nine since Simbu and Gautham Menon have made a perfect comeback both critically and commercially.
