Call it a stroke of luck or whatever you may like; yet, the fact of the matter is that Amala Paul is being flooded with offers to star in all the four South Indian language films – Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada – only after her much-publicized split from her director-husband Vijay.
Amala was a successful actress when she tied the nuptial knot with Vijay in June, 2014 only to get separated a few months back after telling a Family Court in Chennai that they had been ‘living separately’ for more than the past one year i.e. from February last year. After the split, she was signed up to play Dhanush’s heroine in national award-winning director Vetrimaaran’s triology Vada Chennai.
She has a Kannada film Hebbuli opposite Sudeep which is ready to hit the screens soon and has also been signed up two untitled Telugu projects. Recently, she has been signed up by Susi Ganesan to play the lead role in his Thiruttu Payale sequel produced by Kalpathi S. Agoram. Amala gets to share screen-space with the likes of Prasanna and Bobby Simha in this film.
She is also in talks to star in a couple of Malayalam films which might be finalized soon. Commenting on the sudden increase in the number of films on her hands, Amala Paul says “It is indeed a very heartening and satisfactory feeling to be starring simultaneously in all the four South Indian languages; whatever I want to do, I want to enjoy and give my best shot. All my films are special to me!”
