Trade circles point out that actor Vijay Sethupathi’s latest film Rekka, which released in theatres last Friday (07th October) along with Prabhu Deva-Tamannaah’s Devi and Sivakarthikeyan’s Remo, collected Rs.3.5 crores on its very first day in theatres.
Directed by Rathina Siva and starring Vijay Sethupathi and Lakshmi Menon for the first time as on-screen pair, the film has been billed as the actor’s first-ever full-fledged action film. It, however, have comic-filled sequences too as comedy has always been Vijay Sethupathi’s forte.
Though fans have been ridiculing Lakshmi’s make-up and dressing sense in the film, they have been patronizing the film well indeed!
Rekka incidentally is Vijay Sethupathy’s sixth release of the year after Sethupathi, Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum, Iraivi, Dharma Durai and Aandavan Kattalai. To Vijay Sethupathi’s credit, all these films have done well at the box-office and now Rekka has also joined the list of successful films in his career.
At a time when other leading heroes are managing not more than one or two films per year, Vijay Sethupathi’s feat of delivering six hit films in an year is considered as a huge achievement by observers and critics.
