If everything goes well, actor-director-producer Samuthirakani would soon be making a film using the script of the late and legendary K. Balachander, whom he considers as his ‘guru’ and mentor.
Samuthirakani, who worked under K. Balachander for many years, has made a mark in Kollywood as an actor, producer and director and even won the ‘national award for best supporting actor’ early this year for his performance in Veterimaaran’s award-winning and critically acclaimed Visaranai.
He is now directing Appa and Kitna and is all set to make a film out of the last script penned by the late K. Balachander. “Making this script as a film was a dream for my guru KB Sir. I’m now planning to make this film myself. I’m not going to knock the doors of any producer to take care of the production cost of this film.
“I’m going to produce and direct the film myself. If Appa manages a reasonable success with the audiences, I shall start work on KB Sir’s script very soon; in case Appa fails to click, I shall put on hold the making of the film but would somehow make it in the near future,” says Samuthirakani.
