Theri is about and for fathers: Atlee

Theri-is-about-and-for-fathersAtlee, the director of Vijay’s upcoming film, says that the film is for all the loving fathers and is about them. He was responding to rumorus that the film was a ‘remake’ of the Vijayakanth-Bhanupriya starrer Chatriyan which released more than two decades back.

After debuting as director in Kollywood with Raja Rani in 2013, Atlee has got the chance to direct Vijay in only his second film as director in Theri. Vijay plays the father of a five-year old girl played by Nainika, daughter of actress Meena, in the film which has Amy Jackson and Samantha as the twin heroines.

Speaking at the film’s audio-launch a few days back, Atlee said “There have been many rumours floating in the industry about the film’s script. As a director, I feel it is my responsibility to clarify things. It is not a political film and is not about any specific individual. What I thought of narrating initially was that a criminal is also the son of a mother and father. Parents’ mistake might have made him a bad element.

“The one-line message of the film is that parents’ responsibility is to bring up their children in the most perfect manner for their own sake as well as for the country’s sake. If children are brought up in the right manner, they would go on to make good citizens. The film is about how a good father could bring amazing changes in society,” Atlee said.
