Police suspect ‘Kalabhavan’ Mani could have been murdered

Kalabhavan-Mani-2In a new twist to the tale, Kerala Police are suspecting that popular Malayalam and Tamil actor ‘Kalabhavan’ Mani, who passed away on the 06th of this month, could have been murdered.

Mani’s demise was thought of as a natural but mysterious death as the actor was only in his mid-forties but police say that post-mortem reports say that a highly poisonous insecticide was found in the actor’s viscera samples. Reacting sharply to the report, Kerala chief-minister Oommen Chandy said that the State was ready to go for a ‘comprehensive inquiry’ into the issue.

The presence of the dangerous ‘chlorpyrifos’ insecticide was revealed by Muralidharan Nair, Joint Chemical Examiner. Methyl and ethyl alcohol contents were also found in the actor’s blood, he further added. Mani’s brother Ramakrishnan had earlier felt that the death couldn’t have been natural as Mani had no serious health issues. Intake of the above-said chemicals could paralyze the nervous system, it is feared.

Police have picked up Mani’s friends and aides Murugan, Vipin and Sran, who were reportedly with the actor a few minutes before his demise, and are conducting inquiries with the trio.
