Kalaiyarsan pairs up with Shalini for debutant Usha’s Raja Mandhiri

Raja-Mandhiri-movie-poster-696x751Kalaiyarasan, who played an equal role to that of hero Karthi in debutant director Pa. Ranjith’s super-hit 2014 film Madras and has essayed a prominent role in Ranjith’s yet-to-be-released superstar Rajinikanth-starrer Kabali, is pairing up opposite child-star-turned-heroine Shalini in his next film titled as Raja Mandhiri.

Usha Krishnan, who had assisted director Suseenthiran in the past, turns director with the film. She also pens the story, screenplay and dialogues. Women directors such as Madhumitha and Sudha Kongara are a rarity in Tamil films and as such, Usha ought to be lauded for making her directorial debut with a largely unknown cast.

“The film deals with the incidents, relationships, break-ups, memories, friendship, etc. which we undergo on a daily basis in our lives. Raja Mandhiri has been set in typical rural backdrop and is about a prominent family’s life in a village.

It’s a full-fledged family entertainer and has a little bit of everything ranging from comedy, romance, action sequences, happinss and despondency.

“Kalaiyarasan and Kaali Venkat have essayed major roles in the film. Bala Saravanan is the comedian in the film. Shalini, who had essayed child-roles in more than 20 films, graduates to playing the heroine in the film,” says Usha. Justin Prabhakaran scores the film’s music while P.G. Muthaiah is its cinematographer.
