Trisha has crooned a song in her upcoming Tamil-Telugu bilingual Nayaki and has thus joined a list of contemporary actresses who don’t dub regularly in their own voices for their on-screen characters but sing songs occasionally.
Actresses such as Lakshmi Menon and Remya Nambeesan have sung songs in the past though they hardly dub for their characters in their voices.
Shruti Haasan is a honourably exception as the multi-faceted actress speaks in her own voice in her Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films besides singing songs. She is also bringing out a single-track album tomorrow on International Women’s day.
Of late, actresses such as Nayanara, Tamannaah, Sri Divya, Samantha and Trisha have shown interest in dubbing in their voices for their on-screen characters.
Trisha’s song in Nayaki would be of 3-minute duration. Directed by Goverdhan Reddy, the song is to be recorded soon. Trisha is expected to sing the song in both the Tamil version as well as Telugu version.
One of Trisha’s roles in the film is reportedly depicting her as a 20-year old girl, for which make-up artistes worked overtime to show the 32-year old actress almost 12 years younger. Sushma Raj, Ganesh Venkatraman, Satyam Rajesh, Jayaprakash, Manobala, Kovai Sarala and Brahmanandam play significant roles in the film.
