Theatrical release of producer-director Vetrimaaran’s critically acclaimed Visaranai, an experimental Tamil thriller, has been postponed by a week. Instead of on 29th January, the film would now release on 05th February.
Produced jointly by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films and Vetrimaaran’s Grassroot Films, the film stars ‘Attakathi’ Dinesh, Anandhi, ‘Aadukalam’ Murugadoss, Samuthirakani, Kishore, Misha Ghoshal, Pradesh Raj, Ajay Ghosh and Ramadoss in lead roles.
The 106-minute long film, which was screened at Venice International Film Festival last September and won accolades, has music by G.V. Prakash Kumar.
Base on popular author Chandrasekar’s novel Lock Up, Visaranai is the first Tamil film to have been screened at the prestigious 72-year history of Venice International Film Festival. As the film has already won accolades, awards and recognition at various Film Festivals, fans and movie-goers eagerly await the film’s release in theatres.
Vetrimaaran is said to have acceded to the advice given to him by ‘industry seniors’ to postpone his film’s release and not release it in January which witnesses release of some major commercial films.
