Remember the pretty-looking and picture-perfect Madhumitha, born as Swapna Madhuri and who debuted as heroine in Kollywood with R. Parthiepan’s Kudaikkul Mazhai more than a decade back in 2004 when she was barely 20? The 31-year old actress is now attempting a comeback in Tamil films with an upcoming film titled as Bhuddhan Yesu Gandhi.
Last spotted in Venkat Prabhu’s Biriyani (2013) in a small role, Madhmitha has Kisore, Ashok, Vasundhara and ‘Kayal’ Vincent in Bhuddhan Yesu Gandhi which is produced by Blessing Entertainers.
Kishore plays a convict who faces death sentence while Ashok and Vasundhara play journalists. Madhumitha plays a social activist who raises her voices against many social evils including corporal punishments.
It is said that Madhumitha’s role in the film is modeled after award-winning author Arundhati Roy. Madhumitha, still looking gorgeous enough to play lead roles opposite top heroes in Tamil films, reportedly watched videos of Roy and brought in necessary changes in her body language and diction to resemble the author.
Her performance in a recently canned-shot wherein she cried sans glycerin’s aid was lauded by the crew.
Vijay Armstrong is the film’s cinematographer. Ved Shankar is the music director of Bhuddhan Yesu Gandhi which is edited by Ramesh Bharathy and directed by debutant director Vetivel Chandrasekhar.
