Vidya Balan reveals she gets plenty of biopic offers

Vidya-Balan1National award-winning actress Vidya Balan, who continues to remain busy with her Hindi film projects despite her marriage to Siddharth Roy Kapoor, has revealed that she has been getting plenty of offers to play celebrities’ roles in their biopics.

Speaking casually to newsmen recently, Vidya Balan said “Ever since I played the role of the late ‘Silk’ Smitha in Milan Luthria’s The Dirty Picture, which fetched me the coveted national award, I have been getting offers to play celebrities’ roles in their biopics.

I first got the invite to essay the late Indira Gandhi’s role in her biopic and then got offers to play M.S. Subbulakshmi, Benazir Bhutto and Suchitra Sen in their respective biopics.

“I’m still getting many such offers but am somehow wary of taking up those offers. Of late, I have lost interest in playing the roles of celebrities who once lived and are now no more.

Moreover, films have undergone lot of changes nowadays. Earlier, only the big-budget films guaranteed success at the box-office. Now, the trend has changed as lot of small and medium-budget films have started doing well at the box-office.

“Thankfully, audiences have chosen to look deep into the script to make a film succeed or bite the dust at the box-office.

I’m sure they would only patronize films with good scripts and won’t throng the theatres to watch a film for its budget of stars unless it had a good script,” concludes Vidya Balan, who was to make her debut as heroine in Tamil films opposite Srikanth in Manasellam but was later replaced by Trisha.
