Anushka, the birthday girl who turned 34 yesterday, should thank her stars as when actresses of her age are struggling hard to get sister’s role or young mother’s role, she has been busy getting and negotiating heroine’s offers.
The actress, sources close to her say, counts heavily on her upcoming film Inji Iduppazhagi (to release as Size Zero in Telugu) to make it a hat-trick of hits for her after Baahubali and Rudhramaadevi.
Starring Arya, Anushka and the stunning Sonal Chauhan in lead roles and directed by Prakash Kovelamudi, Inji Iduppazhagi has become one of the most eagerly-awaited films in recent times thanks mainly to the interest generated among audiences and fans who had a look at Anushka’s fatty looks in the film. The theme of the film is reportedly about how a fat girl becomes slim-n-svelte to win her lover’s heart.
Anushka’s character in the film has been named as ‘Soundhara’ and she also has a nick-name ‘Sweety’ in the film. As per the script, Urvashi, who plays Anushka’s mother, would often tell her daughter to cut down on junk-food and snacks so as to reduce her weight. Not paying heed to her mother’s advice, Anushka would increase weight by 20 kigs. She later brought it down by her hard-work and will-power.
When Anushka took on the project, she had Baahubali and Rudhramaadevi already on floors but agreed to do the film as she loved the script. Anushka also rejected the crew’s idea that she didn’t need to put on weight as they would use graphics and other techniques to show her as a fat girl. Anushka put on weight willingly for her role and later brought it down to her normal level.
Besides the lead pair, Jiiva, Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan and Hansika appear in guest roles in the film.
