Kamal Haasan has always stayed away from politics and the mudslinging it brings to the fore. When he registered his voice against returning national awards, few political commentators accused him for being a Modi supporter since the Prime Minister also appointed him as one of the ambassadors for Swacch Bharat campaign.
“I have been always following honesty. I was really hurt when people questioned it. I will always raise my voice against intolerance and freedom of expression. I don’t believe in returning national awards. They were given to me by an eminent jury of twelve members. I don’t want to insult them,” said Kamal Haasan.
He also said that Gandhiji could have never fought against the British had he renounced his barrister title. His upcoming film Thoonga Vanam is set for release on November 10th.
